I remain hopeful that my recent contest submission to
The Missouri Review -- a 6,000-word memoir of a to-be-revealed segment of my life -- stands a chance of winning the $5,000 grand prize; however, as my eagerness and confidence are likewise in competition, I submitted the same piece to
Narrative's
Fall Contest. While
Narrative's Grand Prize purse is a little less (it's
only $3,250, with several smaller prizes for runners up), indeed I would be content to win that one instead, if that's how life happens to work out.
